Scouts recognized at board meeting

During the regular session of West County’s Board of Education meeting on Aug. 25 the board recognized Boy Scouts Brendan Pingel and Levi Mills for completion of their Eagle Scout projects.  Both young men planned and organized projects for the West County School District.

Brendan Pingel chose to build a batting cage located next to the girl’s softball field at West County High School.  The cost of the project was shared by the district and the Pingel family.

Levi Mills chose to build an outdoor classroom behind West County High School.  The classroom was built using Missouri limestone, Missouri granite and Missouri Trap Rock donated by local businesses and was harvested locally.

Both Scouts were in charge of supervising the projects.  The work done on the projects was performed by Pingel, Mills, Scout Troop #967 and parent volunteers.  Each project will be recognized with signage at each location.

Both Pingel and Mills should finish their Eagle Scout requirements before the end of this year.
