Ophia Glenda Whitener

Ophia Glenda Whitener, 95, died October 26, 2011 in St. Louis.

She was born June 20, 1916 at Buckhorn, Missouri, the daughter of David and Martha Gipson.

She was united in marriage, in 1940, to Edgar Nolan Whitener  at Farmington,Missouri.

Mrs. Whitener was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar Nolan Whitener; one son, Leslie Whitener; four brothers: Lloyd Gipson, Everett Gipson, Elmer Gipson, and Melvin Gipson; four sisters: Dorothy (Gipson) Wafler, Jewell (Gipson) Hovis, Ruby (Gipson) Huffman, and Ruth Fields.

She is survived by one son, Russell Whitener; and two sisters, Eleanora Sanders and Gladys Boettcher Sanders; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Whitener was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening.

Services were held October 29, 2011 at Follis and Sons Chapel. Burial was at Marcus Memorial Park Cemetery in Fredericktown.
