Trivia Contest to benefit North County Band
The North County High School Band Boosters will sponsor a fund-raising Trivia Contest at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 in the high school commons. The event will also feature a silent auction. Doors open at 6 p.m. so that visitors may browse the tables of auction items with the contest beginning at 7 p.m.
“We are delighted to have our former band director and avid trivia team member Dan Schunks returning as our trivia emcee,” said Donna Hickman, Band Booster. “He has promised to give us some great brain teasers to make it a lively competition.”
Teams may register in advance by contacting Hickman at dhickman13@charter.net or calling 573-358-2568. The cost is $10 per person with a maximum of 10 people per team. Teams may also register at the door.
There will be some free snacks, and some concessions available for purchase.
Silent auction items may be donated by contacting Loretta Barnhouse at rbarnhouse@sbcglobal.net or call 631-9878.
“Each section of the marching band has been asked to come up with a basket for the auction and we are hoping to have some gift certificates and other items our crowd can bid on,” said Barnhouse.
Proceeds from the auction and trivia contest will go toward the band program at North County that features the Marching, Symphonic and Concert Bands, as well as the Jazz Band.
“In this era of budget cuts, it’s important that we be able to supplement the money the school is able to give us toward all the costs associated with the band program,” said Hickman. “We are so proud of our students and we want to make sure they continue to have opportunities to excel in music.”
North County will sponsor its annual Jazz Festival April 20 and 21. Shane Verges is director of North County Bands.
