Toy drive has new registration site

ARCADIA VALLEY – There will be a new registration location for this year’s 15th annual Mountain Echo Christmas Toy Drive. Chairman Tony Harbison said that due to a cutback in service hours at East Missouri Action Agency, registrations for the toy drive co-sponsored by the Farm Bureau and Iron County Action Plan will be accepted this year at the Iron County Health Department, located on Russell Street in Ironton.

Persons needing assistance can make application for an admission voucher through Dec. 9. Distribution of the toys will take place Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Arcadia Valley Lions Club Fairgrounds.

The public is asked to drop off new, unwrapped toys at Farm Bureau Insurance, State Farm Insurance, The Mountain Echo, Pilot Knob City Hall or Dollar General.

Since its inception, the toy drive has provided more than 2,000 area children with Christmas toys. The drive is supported by various civic groups, churches and private individuals, according to Harbison.
