“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” Nov. 30- Dec. 3, at MAC

PARK HILLS – Lucy pulls the football away at the last minute, Charlie Brown tries to work up the courage to talk to the Little Red-Haired Girl, and Linus waxes philosophical about his erstwhile companion, his blanket. Is it possible to ever get tired of the doings of Charles Schulz’s “Peanuts?”

The musical comedy “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” will be performed by Mineral Area College Little Theater Guild, 7:30 nightly, Nov. 30-Dec. 3, at the community college’s Fine Arts Theatre on the main Park Hills campus. Tickets are available at MAC’s Bookstore or at the door.

The play follows the Peanuts gang as they work their way through their familiar and endearing vignettes: Snoopy/WWI Flying Ace at his doghouse/biplane, Schroeder at his piano, and Lucy at her psychiatry booth (“That will be 5 cents, please.”).

MAC Theatre Instructor Chuck Gallaher said the play is perfect for kids, young and old, who have a soft spot for the Peanuts characters.

“It’s one thing to enjoy the Peanuts comics, cartoons, and merchandise,” he said. “But watching the action live, onstage, and hearing the incredible lyrics by the incomparable Clark Glesner breathes a different kind of life into the characters we’ve known and loved for more than 60 years.”

The cast list includes:

Charlie Brown is Patrick Barr, Bonne Terre; Linus is Spencer Weedman, Farmington; Lucy is Brittany Rouse, Fredericktown; Sally is Brittani O’Connell, Valles Mines; Schroeder is Kelvin Urday, Keller, Texas; Snoopy is Alexandra Beck, Desloge.
