Patrol will participate in accident reduction operation Dec. 16-18

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C is participating in the 2011 C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) Life Saver Weekend scheduled to begin just after midnight Dec. 16 and ending at midnight Dec. 18.

Troopers in the Troop C area will be actively enforcing all traffic-related statutes during this period with emphasis on seat belt use, aggressive driving, excessive speed, and driving while intoxicated.

Troopers have been asked to maximize their visibility in an effort to reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes. The goal of Life Saver Weekend is to increase public awareness and to make the roadways in the Troop C area as safe as possible. Please allow plenty of time for your holiday travel, reduce your speed, wear your seat belt, and don’t drink and drive.

When planning your travel, keep abreast of the weather forecast and call the Missouri Road Condition Report number (1-800-222-6400) to check the route you’ll be driving.

If you see a driver you feel may be impaired or a danger to the public, you are encouraged to report it to the Patrol. Aggressive or impaired drivers may be reported by calling at 1-800-525-5555, or *55 on your cellular phone.
