New health reform law seminar

The Madison County Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Majority, the Missouri Health Advocacy Alliance and AARP are holding an informational session for business owners, bookkeepers, CPAs and self-employed entrepreneurs to learn how they can take advantage of provisions in the new federal health reform law on Dec. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at Follis Place of Madison County, 702 Plaza Dr., Fredericktown. A free lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.

Brian Schmidt, Executive Director of the Joint Committee on Tax Policy for the Missouri General Assembly will be on hand to dive into the details of how businesses can apply for, and receive, tax credits for small businesses.

In addition, other state and federal tax and healthcare policy experts will discuss:

• State-based health insurance marketplaces

• Emerging business opportunities in healthcare

• Tools and other resources available to businesses who are interested in reducing their healthcare costs

A question and answer session will follow.

 This meeting is open to anyone who would like to attend and includes a free meal.
