Knightettes win opener at Show-Me

CAPE GIRARDEAU — The Farmington Knightettes broke a 39-39 tie with a lay-up in the waning seconds of their Show-Me Center Classic first-round game against the Cape Central Lady Tigers on Tuesday. The 41-39 win came only after a missed shot by the Lady Tigers was rebounded by Farmington to finish out the game.

Jordan Martin hit one three-pointer to give her a team-leading 13 points in the game. Rachel Williams scored 11, and Jessica Hicks  Loralee Bader and Kaitlyn Gilliam scored four points each.

“We’re a young team, but our girls handled their pressure realy well there at the end,” said Farmington Coach Steve McFarland after the game.

Farmington (4-2) will face Jackson tonight at 7 p.m. in a semi-final game with the tournament’s finals to be played on Thursday.
