Lady Cats lose close game at Festus

The Lady Cats Basketball Team lost 39-36, Wednesday, at Festus.

Fredericktown got five points in the first quarter from Terra Helm to take a 7-4 lead. Helm’s second 3-pointer of the first half turned out to be the only points for either team in the second quarter, and Cats led 10-4 at halftime.

Festus outscored the Cats 13-9 in the third quarter, but Fredericktown still led 19-17 with a quarter to play.

In the fourth, Festus more than doubled its total scoring for the first three quarters, racking up 22 points. After not making a free throw in the first three quarters, the Lady Tigers were 10-17 from the line in the fourth. Meanwhile, the Lady Cats scored 17 in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough.

Helm led the Lady Cats with 19 points. Nicole Burns and Kara Lunsford each had five. Ellie Jensen had three, and Brooke Tonjum and Bridget Allgier had two, each.

Next–The Lady Cats received the sev enth seed in the Lady Rebel Tournament in Park Hills. They play No. 2 seed, Ste. Genevieve, 2:30 p.m., Dec. 26. With a victory, they would play 2:30 p.m., Dec. 28. With a loss, they would play at 11:30 a.m., Dec. 26.
