Essie Lee Anna Moore
Essie Lee Anna Moore, 85, of Granite City, Illinois died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. She was born July 12, 1926 in Mine La Motte, Missouri, a daughter of the late James and Minnie (Berry) Cox. She married David H. Moore April 9, 1944 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and he survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, James Moore of Glen Carbon, Larry Moore of Florissant, Missouri and Donald Moore of Wheeling, West Virginia; two step-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Cox of Crestwood, Missouri; one sister, Elizabeth Slaten of O’Fallon, Missouri; and other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, James Cox Jr., Norman Cox, Franklin Cox and Norma Cox.
Mrs. Moore was a member of the former Crossroads Nazarene Church in Pontoon Beach and enjoyed her days of gardening, arranging flowers and working with ceramics. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family.
Funeral service was Tuesday, December 27, at Irwin Chapel, in Glen Carbon with Reverend Carl Watkins officiating.
Entombment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
