MAC Spring Registration Under Way
PARK HILLS, Mo. – It’s a good idea to start thinking about spring and summer-spring and summer classes at Mineral Area College.
“Spring classes start January 11, so it’s a good idea to get the ball rolling sooner than later,” Registrar Linda Huffman said. “And before you know it, we’ll be registering in March for summer classes.”
Jean Merrill-Doss, dean of students, said she anticipates quite a few people will be hitting MAC’s Web site, www.MineralArea.edu, to check out the course schedule, apply to college, reserve books, or register online.
“Our Web site is a great, one-stop shop to find out a lot of answers to your questions regarding classes, financial aid, and about the college in general,” Merrill-Doss said.
Spring semester begins Jan. 11 and ends May 15, while the eight-week summer semester begins June 4 and ends July 30. In addition to offering classes that begin and end with each semester, MAC also offers 8-week classes in the spring, and 4-week and 6-week classes in the summer. Many classes are also offered at night, online, via telecourse aired on television, or through interactive television in a MAC classroom.
“We try to meet a variety of needs when we think about offering classes,” Merrill-Doss said. “We try to meet the early-morning needs of that student who needs to get to work in the afternoon, and the after-five needs of students who work during the day and attend classes at night. Some classes are offered on Saturday mornings, and on a weekend format as well.”
Registration for spring classes began Nov. 21. Students may enroll between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, but should schedule an appointment to do so. Anyone planning to begin their higher education, and who wishes to attend MAC for the first time during the spring and/or summer 2012 semester should contact the Admissions Office at (573) 518-2133.
Previous MAC students who have been enrolled at least one semester since fall 1981 and have no financial debt to the college are eligible to register early provided admission requirements have been met. Transfer students may register during this period provided admission papers have been received. These students will receive registration information after their admission file has been processed. Students are encouraged to take advantage of Web registration. Questions regarding registration should be directed to the Registrar’s Office, (573) 518-2119.
Students who are interested in attending classes at one of MAC’s outreach centers may contact the main campus in Park Hills or contact the appropriate outreach center coordinator: Farmington-Andrea Richardson at (573) 701-1310, Ext. 2139; Fredericktown-Marcy Rehkop at (573) 783-7932 or 783-7914; Perryville-Sally Werner at (573) 547-4143; Potosi Judy East at (573) 438-3479 before 3 p.m. or (573) 438-2156 Ext. 43 after 4 p.m.; Winona-Michael Greene (573) 325-8101, Ext. 314.
Students who plan to enroll in English or math courses are required to undergo assessment testing. For a list of on- and off-campus testing dates, students should call 518-2202 or 518-2188.
Arrangements for paying tuition and fees must be made at the time of registration, and arrangements for financial aid must be completed before registration. Questions regarding financial aid should be directed to the Financial Aid Office, (573) 518-2133.
Students can price and reserve their textbooks online at www.MineralArea.edu. Spring textbooks will be available online the week of Dec. 2. Spring textbook sales at the Bookstore, including online and order pick up, will begin Jan. 4 at the campus bookstore.
