Wilbur Stanley Hartsell

Wilbur Stanley Hartsell, 97, died Dec. 24, 2011 in Mexico, Missouri. He was born July 18, 1914 in Elvins, Missouri, the son of the late William B. and Anna (Stanfield) Hartsell.

He married Florence O. “Corky” Thomas March 23, 1940, in Marquand, Missouri. They were married nearly 72 years. She survives.

Wilbur is survived by daughters Frances Hartsell of Troy, Missouri, Charlene Yake of Port Huron, Michigan, Mary Bufford of Louisiana, Missouri, and Dorothy Cochron of Lawton, Oklahoma; son Wilbur of Auxvasse, Missouri; brothers Willard Hartsell of Westland, Michigan and Warren Hartsell of Phoenix, Arizona; sister Fanny Lopp of Centerline, Michigan; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and other relatives.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents and sons Fred and Norman Hartsell.

Wilbur attended Calvary Assembly of God in Montgomery City, Missouri. He worked as a machinist for Heitz Machine and Die Company and was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Local 41.

Services were Dec. 30, 2011, at Follis and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Stevenson officiating. Burial was in the Whitener Cemetery in Marquand. Pallbearers were Brad Cochran, Robert Hartsell, Joe Hartsell, Kevin Johnson, Ken Arcand, Tim Herr, and Mike Stevens. Honorary Pallbearers were Junior Hartsell, Tom Joseph, Josh Moyer, and Jared Moyer.
