Park Hills, MO – Mineral Area College is offering a series of computer classes through its Continuing Education Department. The short courses are not offered for college credit and are intended for individuals who want to improve their computer skills for personal or professional development.
MAC will offer a 10-hour Introduction to Microsoft (MS) Excel Feb. 7-21 and a 10-hour MS Excel Level 2 Feb. 23-March 8 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Students who enroll in the introductory course will learn how to format a worksheet, work with formulas and functions, and create charts. In Level 2, Students will learn how to analyze data using formulas, manage workbook data, and use and analyze table data. The same textbook is used for both classes.
Individuals who enroll in Introduction to Microsoft Word will learn to create and edit documents and format text and paragraphs. The 10-hour course will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. March 20-April 3. Students who have completed the introductory course may want to enroll in MS Word Level 2 offered April 10-24 where they will learn how to create and format tables, illustrate documents with graphics, work with themes and building blocks and merge Word documents. The same textbook is used for both classes.
The courses listed above are $60 each, and a textbook is required. MAC also has a limited number of seats still available in the free basic computer literacy classes. The free courses are paid for by a grant from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act Broadband Technology Opportunities Program. Students in the free classes can expect to learn basic terminology and receive hands-on training in using the mouse, navigating the desktop, surfing the Internet, using the Windows Operating System and more.
