Marvin Leroy Poston

LEADWOOD — Marvin Leroy Poston age 87, of Leadwood passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 at his residence.  He was born November, 29, 1924 and later joined the Navy serving as Naval Intelligence in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Leadwood United Methodist Church since 1938 and was a member of the Leadwood Masonic Lodge #598 for over 60 years. He owned Ernie’s Grocery in Leadwood from 1972-1991. Marvin worked on City Council for ten years and on the school board for 3 years. He was an acting Post Master when Leadwood Post Office closed.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary “Ernie” (Babb) Poston; parents Jeremiah Felix Poston and Emma Jane Schults; sisters Frances Robinson and Louise Bartlow; brothers Walter, Lynn, Reuben, Clarence, and Clark Poston.

Marvin is survived by; daughters Lana Louise Jinkerson of Hillsboro, Janice Kay (Mrs. Bob Mason) of Terre Du Lac, and Babette Lea Poston of Independence; three grandchildren, Marla (Jinkerson) Brunk and husband Jason of Hillsboro, Aaron Lawson and wife Natalie of Leawood, KS, and Amy Lawson of Park Hills; twelve great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Leadwood Friday, January 13, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Leadwood United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Leadwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Leadwood United Methodist Church.
