The first order of business was the approval of the issuance and sale of Lease Certificates in the amount of $2,060,000 for the middle school project and a FEMA shelter at the primary elementary site.  Tom Pisarkiewicz and Cybil Paris from L. J. Hart & Company of St. Louis (the company which is handling the issuance of the lease certificates) were on hand for the approval of issuance and sale of the lease certificates.

Chadd Starkey reported to the Board on the district’s Annual Performance Report.  The district received 13 of a possible 14 points.  The district receives points for MAP testing, ACT, advanced courses, career education courses, college placement, career education placement, graduation rate, attendance rate, and EOC testing.

Brett Reutzel, high school principal, gave a report on the A+ Program.  He told the Board that approximately 30 students per year graduate eligible for A+ funding.  There are currently 39 seniors active in the program this year who are on track for A+  eligibility.  Mr. Reutzel told the Board that most students lose eligibility for the program due to attendance.  Students must maintain a 95 percent attendance rate for their four years in high school and a 2.5 grade point average.

The Board approved payment to Brockmiller Construction for work completed on the new middle school.

A group of updated MSBA policies were also approved.  Most of the policies were updated due to changes in state law.

A revised substitute teacher list was approved.

The Board set a special board meeting date for Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 6 p.m.

The Board accepted the resignation of Chuck Ford effective at the end of the current school year due to retirement.  They also accepted the resignation of Joe Garrity as assistant high school boys soccer coach and Jamie Warden as the high school head volleyball coach.
