Arcadia Valley Chamber presents awards at annual banquet

Tim and Cindy Sappington, owners of the Fort Davidson Motel and Shepherd Mountain Inn, were recognized as the 2011 Arcadia Valley Business of the Year by the AV Chamber of Commerce at the organization’s annual banquet held Feb. 11, at Bobby Powell’s AV Jamboree in Ironton.

Others recognized were:

The late Norman Inman, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award. His wife, Connie, and sons, Jonathan and Justin, accepted the award on his behalf.

Ray and Carol Kelsheimer, were presented the 110 Percent Award, sponsored by KREI/KTJJ Radio.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church’s pastor, the Rev. Kittie Hillquist, named the chamber’s Woman of the Year.

AV High School senior Tanner Lorenz of Belleview, presented the Teen of the Year award, sponsored by the Dockins Broadcasting Group.

Carson Thomas, named Man of the Year by award sponsor, The Mountain Echo. Because Thomas was unable to attend the banquet, the award was accepted on his behalf by Brenda Brooks.

The awards presentation followed an international buffet featuring a variety of foods provided by area restaurants and musical entertainment from Morgan McAdams, Grant McAdams and Tyler Sappington who performed several song on the hammer dulcimer, mountain dulcimer and fiddle.
