Blackcats rally past Dexter for district win

SIKESTON, Mo. — The Fredericktown boys basketball team erased an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter, and rallied past Dexter 54-50 in Monday’s opening round at the Class 4, District 1 tournament.

Senior Keith Jackson drained two pivotal 3-pointers during the final stanza, and finished with 19 points and five assists as the Blackcats (18-9) notched their 11th victory in 12 games.

Brock Mills posted another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Sawyer added eight points and sank two clinching free throws for Fredericktown after making a steal in the closing seconds.

Fredericktown outscored Dexter 16-6 after Dexter closed the third quarter leading 44-38, and advanced to face top seed Notre Dame on Wednesday.
