Baker charged with stealing

PARK HILLS — A Park Hills man discovered he can’t get paid twice if he reports a check stolen.

Albert Lee Baker, 47, has been charged with stealing. His bond was set at $15,000.

According to court records, Baker cashed a disability check for $707 at the Country Mart store in Park Hills.

Baker then reported to the government that he had lost his disability check and needed a new one. Baker was issued a new check for the same amount and again cashed it at Country Mart.

When Country Mart was notified payment on the first check had been canceled, the store manager called police.

While Park Hills Police executed the warrant for Baker’s arrest, they smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana. They searched the residence and found marijuana and some drug paraphernalia.

Baker was out on parole for previous drug convictions. His parole has been revoked since his latest arrest.

His previous convictions include sale of cocaine, sale of marijuana and stealing.
