Mineral Point woman killed after vehicle overturns
A Mineral Point woman was killed early Saturday when her 2005 Honda Accord overturned in Washington County.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Stephanie A. Hochstatter, 29, was southbound on Route U at 12:20 a.m. when the Accord went off the right side of the road. Hochstatter overcorrected to the left and the vehicle went off the left side of the road. It struck an embankment, overturned and came to rest on its side, .2 mile north of Zinc Mine Road.
Hochstatter, who had not been wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
Damage to the Accord was listed as total.
Two women and a man were injured Saturday when a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee struck a 1999 Chrysler Concord head on in St. Francois County.
According to Highway Patrol reports, Hazel R. Jones, 83, of Doe Run, was southbound on Missouri 221 at 4:55 p.m. when the accident occurred, .2 mile south of Henson Road.
Jones’ Jeep was in the northbound lane when the northbound Chrysler, driven by Heather A. Beers, 33, of Imperial, approached. Jones tried to correct to the right, and the left front of her Jeep struck Beers’ vehicle head on. The Jeep overturned, and came to rest on the passenger side in the roadway.
Jones suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Parkland Health Center. Beers and her passenger, Michael S. Marcee, 43, of Lonedell, received minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. All three had been wearing seat belts.
Damage to each vehicle was listed as total.
