Scout Troop 27 enjoy local attractions, earn badges

Boy Scout Troop 27 spent a recent weekend close to home but very busy.

The troop spent two nights fine tuning their winter camping skills at the Scout Hut, added to their hiking experience with a seven mile hike to historic sites, and worked on three other merit badges.

The boys toured the Civil War Museum where they obtained an abundance of information from a tour by Carole Magnus, received a behind the scene look at the Post Office by David Settles and learned about how it got on the Registry for Historical Sites, then went to look at the Civil War Battle site on South Main.

The Troop finally hiked back to their campsite where they enjoyed a variety of outdoor team building games, worked on fire building and cooking all their own meals over a campfire.

Troop 27 enjoyed a wonderful winter weekend discovering skills they can use throughout life, getting lots of exercise, learning about the history of their town and more, while most importantly having FUN. So what did you do over the weekend?
