Officials look for man missing since Jan. 5
Washington County authorities are looking for a man who has been missing since Jan. 5.
Norvel Robert “Bobby” Nelson III, 37, has been missing since Jan. 5 but the Washington County Sheriff’s Department has been unable to figure out why.
“We have exhausted all leads we have to this date,” Lt. Todd Mahaney said Monday.
Nelson was last seen in the Mineral Point area.
Mahaney said they spoke to the only person of interest they had and that turned up nothing.
When asked if the disappearance seemed suspicious, Mahaney said with the second and third-hand information, it appears it could be. However, they have no credible information that it could be.
Wilson has blonde hair, hazel eyes. He is 5 foot 10, 150 pounds. He has tribal tattoos on both arms and a scar on the left side of his face from his forehead to his ear. He is legally blind.
He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and blue tennis shoes.
If you have any information, call the sheriff’s department at 573-438-5478 or the Missing Persons Clearinghouse at 1-800-877-3452.
Nelson’s mother, Cathy Politte of Festus, told the Festus newspaper in February, that he went to Mineral Point to get some of his wife’s belongings from a trailer. She told the newspaper she thinks he is dead because he always calls her once a week. She said she received calls from someone claiming Nelson was a victim of foul play.
His father, Norvel Nelson Jr., placed an ad in the Daily Journal last week hoping to get some information.
