Link Family wins several awards
The Link Family from Missouri and Jerry Bennett from Nashville scored big at the 16th annual FAME Awards Show & Ceremony Feb. 27, 2012 conducted in Pharr, Texas.
Lance Link, father of the band was born in Fredericktown 1962, grew up there and graduated from Fredericktown High School in 1980. He is the son of Ivan Link and Shirley Link who still live in Fredericktown.
The Link Family took home a total of eight awards, six individual and two family, winning the categories of: Banjo, Ben Link; Fiddle, Kyle Link; Mandolin, Rachel (Link) Keeler, Musician, Rachel (Link) Keeler; Rhythm Guitar; Aaron Link, and the Directors Award going to Becky Link. As a family they waltzed off with the Group of the Year and Show of the Year honors.
“That was a first for one family, individually and collectively, to win that many awards in the 16 year history of FAME (Families Advocating Moral Entertainment),” said director Bob Reed.
Jerry Bennett won his second consecutive Entertainer of the Year award as well as winning Keyboard Player of the Year and Showman of the Year honors. FAME’s board, by proclamation, named Bennett as the Gospel Artist of the Year.
Red Johnson nailed down his second consecutive Male Vocalist of the Year as Bruce Wutzke picked up his second Electric Bass Guitarist title.
Pam Linton took home the Female Vocalist of the Year award with Sherwin Linton being voted Legend of the Year.
