Dixie Lee Quilters’ Guild

Dixie Lee Quilters’ Guild celebrated their 11th year on March 6th at the Fredericktown Senior Center. There were 39 members present and three visitors. The meetings are the first Tuesday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. The doors are opened by 6:00 p.m. to sign in.

The purpose of  Dixie Lee Quilters’ Guild is to bring together young and old, beginner and professional, who share a common love of quilts and quilting, but who will share their ideas, inspirations and friendship, as well as to learn, participate in projects, and pass on information about all forms of the art through social, educational and community activities.

Guests 14 and older are welcome to attend two meetings but after two meetings we ask that you become a member. Membership is $15 a year. Membership benefits include a monthly newsletter, has voting privileges, may participate in special events and has priority in signing up for workshops before opening the event to other guilds and the general public.

We will have a work day on Saturday, March 24th at the senior center to complete much needed lap quilts for the nursing homes. Starting at 9:00 a.m. to whenever we get ready to leave. Bring a lunch to share with others.

The quilt guild will be taking a bus to the Paducah Quilt Show on April 28th. There are seats available if anyone would like to go with us. The cost is $35 for each seat. We leave the Fredericktown High School parking lot at 6:30 a.m. sharp, with a stop at Patton Junction and on to Cape Girardeau Wal-Mart for riders, arriving at Paducah between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

There is a fee to get into the show. We get back on the bus at 4:00 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. (will be told before leaving the bus) to make a stop at Hancocks Fabric in Paducah. After stopping for supper we should arrive back in Fredericktown between 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

If you have never seen the Paducah Quilt Show this is the time to go. You will see quilts from all over the world that will amaze you. This is an ART. And of course vendors to purchase those must needed items. This event is for quilters and non-quilters. For more information or to sign up call Saphrona at 783-3170. Payment is due before the trip.
