MAC Cardinals bring home sweep of St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — Behind the superb pitching of Jeff King and Chris Ostrowski the Mineral Area College Cardinals captured a pair of wins on Tuesday 3-0 and 5-2 over St. Louis Community College. The two pitchers combined to give up only three hits over the 14 innings.

King threw a two-hitter for the opener, striking out seven batters on the way, and issuing only two walks.Tanner Glore, Brad Wright and Cody Garlington provided the offensive fireworks with each hitting a single and a double.  Tyler Bunge hit two singles and Brad Matson drew four walks in the game.

Ostrowski gave up only one hit during his seven innings. He walked seven batters while striking out nine. Matson and Wright had three singles each for the Cardinals and Cody Garlington drew two walks, hit a double and a single to drive in two runs and score one.

The Cardinals are now 15-13 and will take on Three Rivers on Thursday at the Hal Loughary ballfield.
