Harold B. “”Smiley”” Clark

Harold B. “Smiley” Clark, 94, of Fredericktown (formerly of Cape Girardeau, MO.), died Monday, March 26, 2012 at Madison Medical Center. He was born February 3, 1918 in Commerce, MO, the son of Omer and Opal Watkins (O’Quinn) Clark .

He married Frieda Ruth Westerwelle March 26, 1937 in Marble Hill, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Horace, Ray, Billy and Benny Clark; and sister, Georgia “Sissy” Fiesler.

Survivors include his wife, Frieda Ruth Clark of Fredericktown; daughters, Vivian Ellicott of New Smyrna, FL, and Charlotte Ellis of Fredericktown; brothers, Bobby Clark of Cape Girardeau and Omer Wayne Clark of Lake Ozark, MO; sister, Iris Jane Hoffmeister of Gravois Mills, MO; seven grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Clark was a shift foreman for Marquette Cement Company for 33 years, retiring in 1977. He also was an auctioneer/owner for C & W Auction Company in Cape Girardeau and owner/operator of Clark’s Re-Sale Shop in E. Cape Girardeau, Il. He sold the business and retired in 2009.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cape Girardeau and was of the Methodist faith.

Funeral services were March 29, 2012 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Entombment was at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Ford & Sons Funeral Home of Cape Girardeau was in charge of arrangements.
