Scouts receive donation

Boy Scout Troop 27 was presented with a check from the Fredericktown Kiwanis Club by Cindy Head Tuesday, April 3rd.  The $200 check will help support camping endeavors.

Troop 27 has been busy planning for the upcoming Spring Camporee it is participating in at the end of the month.  While camping the scouts will take part in competitions against other troops. Competitions include Split the Match, Move the Weight, Disappearing Ropes, Knot Identification, a Compass Activity, Scout Trivia and Build a Catapult. The three patrols of Troop 27 have been practicing tent set-up by having competitions against each other. Each patrol must set up their tent unassisted with predetermined specifications, which include using specific knots and choosing the appropriate area for their tent. The purpose of the exercise is to get the boys prepared for arriving at a campsite on a Friday night prepared to set up their tents on their own. Anyone interested in Troop 27 should contact Scoutmaster John Hargis at 573-561-4525 or Assistant Scoutmaster Kyle Bastie at 573-934-6007.
