DAR meets
The Sarah Barton Murphy Chapter, NSDAR, held its regular monthly meeting April 7 at Ryan’s Steak House in Farmington. Regent Edwina Alcorn chaired the meeting, with member June Kreft leading the ritual.
The program was presented by artist Bill Bunch of Bonne Terre, researcher and painter of local train depots. Bunch presented a series of slides of historical train depots in the local area and talked about their history. He also brought an album of his drawings of the depots. Of particular interest were the pictures of the depots which are no longer standing.
The new Sarah Barton Murphy Chapter officers for the 2012-2013 year were installed by member June Kreft. They include Regent Janet Kemp, Vice Regent Cara Akridge, Chaplain Sue Wade, Corresponding Secretary Kathy Hibner, Treasurer Colleen Cruse, Registrar Karen Kleinbert, Historian Carol Farr, and Librarian Karen Coleman. Also, Ms. Kreft led the installation of new members Joan McKenzie, Joan Dostal, and Kay Seper.
Regent Alcorn reminded the members of the MSSDAR State Conference at the the Holiday Inn in Columbia in May.
The last meeting of the term will be held on Saturday, May 5 at 9 a.m. at Ryan’s Steak House in Farmington. All ladies whose ancestor served our country during the American Revolution are invited to attend. For further information, call 756-3469 or 756-2142.
