Scout Troop 27 Eagle Patrol first in Scout History competition

Boy Scout Troop 27 headed to S Bar F Scout Ranch Friday, April 13, for the Ozark Trailblazers Spring Camporee.

The camporee is a three day camping and competition event which involves troops from the region.  Competitions are based around a theme each year, this year’s theme titled “Back To Basics.”

Competition events included Scout History, Match Split, Burn the Rope, Compass, Knot Identification, Move the Weight and Catapult Building.  Troop 27 had three patrols participate in the event, The Owls, The Eagles, and The Dragons.  The Eagles took first place in the Scout History Event.

Boys attending the camporee stay in tents each night and are responsible for all of their immediate needs, under the supervision of their trained adult leaders.  They build their own campfire, set up their own tents, cook their own food and maintain the campsite.  Troop 27 has 26 boys in their Troop, 17 of which attended the camporee.

Troop 27’s next event is at the Azalea Festival May 4-6.  They will be running a concession stand with their leaders to raise money for the Troop.  Troop 27 has provided a concession stand for many years.  This year they are trying out a new product, catfish nuggets.  They will be frying catfish nuggets and fries to sell to the festival’s patrons. They will also participate in the parade on Sunday.
