Bobby G. Harper

Bobby G. Harper, 80, of Potosi, Missouri died April 26, 2012 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home.  He was born August 22, 1931 in Mine La Motte, Missouri, a son of Jesse C. Harper and Bertha (Tinnin) Harper.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 49-1/2 years, Ramona A. Harper, and a granddaughter, Christine Harper.

Survivors include his son Robert E. Harper of Lexington Park, Maryland; daughters, Susan A. Maize of Granite City, Illinois; Judy Forbes of Potosi, and Cindy L. Harper of Collinsville, Illinois; brother Cecil Harper of Fredericktown; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.    

Bob loved to listen to and sing Southern Gospel Music.  He blessed many people through the years singing in The Happy Hearts Quartet and with various other groups.  He was a youth sports supporter and umpire, and followed Potosi High School athletics as well. He also enjoyed the Washington County Fair each year.

Bob was a longtime member of the Potosi Southern Baptist Church and longtime past member of the Potosi Lions Club.

Funeral services were May 6, 2012 at the DeClue Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating.  Pallbearers were Robert Harper, Norman Forbes, Daniel Forbes, Jeremy Bailey, Joseph Maize, and Mike Aubuchon. Honorary pallbearers were Janet Alexander, Amber Harper, Sarah Forbes, Holly Bailey, and Lauren Forbes.

Burial was at the Redbud Memorial Gardens with full military honors conducted by the United States Army and Local VFW Post 6996.  All arrangements were entrusted to the care of DeClue Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
