Several pets need new homes

Five dogs and four cats at the Farmington Pound, one dog at the Park Hills Pound and three dogs at the Desloge Pound are seeking their owners or new homes where they can be loved and cared for, according to Pet Central of the Mineral Area member Adele Stemler.

• Labrador Retriever mix puppy, about 4 months old.

• Female catahoula mix puppy, 6 months old.

• Female house dog, around 2 years old. “Not good with small children,” Stemler says.

• Four black and white cats, both sexes. “All house cats, never been outside,” Stemler says.

• Shepherd/beagle mix puppy, a male, 8-10 weeks old.

• Husky mix female, 6-8 months old.

• Blue pitbull puppy, 6-8 months old.

• Two Sheltie puppies, brothers, about three months old.

• Collie mix female, about one year old. “She has been spayed, has her shots and vet records,” Stemler says. “The Collie needs lots of exercise and/or a large yard.”

To give owners the opportunity to claim them, dogs and cats are kept for seven days at the Park Hills and Farmington Pounds; and five days at the Desloge Pound. After that, they are eligible for adoption or euthanasia. There are no adoption fees at the Farmington and Park Hills pounds, but rescuers are required by the Missouri Department of Agriculture to sign a spay/neuter/vaccination commitment.

Other animals not featured in this story may also be available for adoption.
