Munro faces forcible rape charges

A Ste. Genevieve man has been charged with rape after a Park Hills woman told police he forced himself on her.

Andrew N. Munro, 21, has been charged with forcible rape. His bond has been set at $250,000.

According to court records, a Park Hills police officer was dispatched to an apartment on West Main for a report of a rape. When the officer arrived, a woman was crying uncontrollably.

She told the officer that someone knocked on her door early May 6 and she answered the door to find a man of large build. She said he came into her apartment and forced her to have sex.

She was taken to an area hospital after complaining her stomach hurt.

While her sisters were waiting in the waiting room, a man came in and asked if they had a twin sister. Her sisters told the officer that this man went into an exam room.

The officer heard Munro in an exam room asking to be checked for sexually transmitted diseases. He was taken into custody.

On the way to the police department, Munro said he and the female had a consensual sexual encounter that night. He said they had met earlier that day and he had been text messaging her. He said he went to her apartment and they had sex.

Munro said he didn’t want to say anything more without an attorney.
