Valle girls and boys win State Meet

JEFFERSON CITY — Valle High School will add two more State Championship plaques to their trophy cabinet after they swept both sides of the Class 1 State Track Meet on Saturday.

The Warriors claimed two first-places and five second-places in the 18 events in scoring 81 points, far ahead of second-place Concordia with 55 points.  

Ryan Hermann won the discus, and Valle’s 4x800M relay team of Cory Kertz, Calvin Calvis, Matt Bauman and Nicholas Klein also took first.

The Lady Warriors relied on their relay teams to secure the bulk of their points. The 4x800M relay team of Neve Cavanaugh, Rebecca Abt, Kylie Meyer and  Kamrie Meyer logged a time of 10:09.14 for Valle’s only first-place finish, but the Lady Warriors also placed third in the other three relays.

Kamrie Meyer placed third in the 1600M run and Neve Cavanaugh was right behind her for fourth. The two girls switched results for the 3200M run to contribute 22 points to the Lady Warriors team total of 66 points, far ahead of Midway’s second-place finish of 39.33.  

Allisyn Dalton placed third in both the pole Vault and the shot put.
