Desloge police make several drug arrests

Two separate calls about occupants sleeping in their vehicles led to drug arrests for the Desloge Police Department.

The first incident occurred at 7:10 a.m. May 17 at the Dollar General Store parking lot after someone reported seeing a person slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle.

When Patrolman Brad Judge arrived, he found a 26-year-old Bonne Terre resident passed out with the car in gear and running. The officer knocked on the windows for several minutes before waking the driver. He asked if the driver needed medical assistance and then asked if he could search the vehicle.

Inside Judge found 28 pills in the driver’s cargo pants pocket. The pills were identified as Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen.

The driver could be charged with possession of a controlled substance.

On May 21, Judge was dispatched to the Desloge Walmart for another person passed out in a vehicle.

When Judge approached the vehicle at 6:40 a.m., he knocked on the vehicle for several minutes before he was able to wake up the 26-year-old Park Hills man.

The man rolled down the window and the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Judge discovered a plastic baggy of marijuana and rolling papers. The man could be charged through the city with misdemeanor possession charges.

A Desloge man was arrested in Desloge May 20 after reportedly being involved in an accident in Bonne Terre.

Patrolman Joe Carducci spotted the suspect vehicle and pulled it over. When he approached the 25-year-old driver, the man appeared to be trying to hide something under the front passenger seat. The officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked for permission to search the vehicle. Inside, he found two pipes, a syringe, a spoon and a partial hand-rolled marijuana cigarette.

The man will be charged through the city with speeding, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
