Farmington Police participate in state traffic effort
The Farmington Police Department recently assisted law enforcement agencies across the state in a concentrated effort to lower alcohol-related driving offenses.
From May 3 to 31 the department placed extra emphasis on patrolling high traffic streets and intersections. While the goal was to take drunk drives off the road, the result ended up being a variety of offenses found.
The nearly month-long effort resulted in the following arrests or tickets and warnings:
• Possession of Marijuana (under 35 grams) – 2 arrests
• Possession Drug Paraphernalia – 7 arrests
• Seat Belt violations – 10 tickets and one warning
• Failed to show proof of insurance – 22 tickets and three warnings
• Driving while revoked/suspended – 2 tickets
• Driving without valid drivers license – 5 tickets
• Other Non-hazardous violations – 12 tickets and 23 warnings
• Minor in possession alcohol beverage – 1 ticket
• Supplied alcohol beverage to a minor – 1 ticket
• Driving while intoxicated – 3 arrests
• Speeding – 17 tickets and 27 warnings
• Stop sign violation – 1 ticket and 5 warnings
• Failure to yield – 2 tickets and 1 warning
• Other hazardous violations – 5 tickets.
