Officers perform drug sweep

According to St. Francois County Sheriff Dan Bullock, early Monday morning officers from Mineral Area Drug Task Force, MSHP, St. Francois County Sheriff’s  Office, Farmington and Desloge Police Departments met at Troop C in Park Hills, divided into groups and were armed with warrants for 38 people.

These warrants were the result of a lengthy investigation by the task force into the heroin problems the county is facing in the Troop C area and particularly in St. Francois County.

By 3 p.m. Monday, 24 people had been rounded up and booked into the St. Francois County Detention Facility. Three additional people were arrested during this round up and will be charged with felony possession of controlled substance. With meth still being a substantial problem in the area state and local law-enforcement are taking a proactive approach to head off this recent heroin problem that has resulted in numerous drug overdoses and deaths throughout the past couple of years. Hopefully this ongoing inter-agency investigation will help to curtail the ever present drug problem our citizens face on a daily basis.
