Benefit for Gammon family
BONNE TERRE – A benefit will be held for the family of Andy Gammon Saturday at Hub’s Pub in Bonne Terre.
There will be music and activities all day. Corey Hulsey, an organizer of the benefit, said they will asking for a $5 donation for admission but no one will be turned away. He said there will be door prizes for those who pay admission.
All proceeds will go to the Andy Gammon Benefit Fund which has been set up at First State Community Bank.
“Andy was a great man who always put his family first and worked extremely hard to do so,” said Kristy Cunningham, one of the organizers of the benefit.
Gammon, 35, died March 29 after a construction accident on the Mississippi River. He was working on the construction of a four-lane bridge when a man-lift he was operating tipped over and fell into the river near a concrete tower for the bridge.
Gammon was married to Tracy and has two children, Ethan and Emma.
The benefit begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with a (500 feet) Pub Run and doesn’t end until 1 a.m. Sunday
“We were going to do a 5k run but someone is already doing one that day,” Hulsey said. “This is just something fun to start things off. We’ll mark off 500 feet from the pub.”
Hulsey said the event will be kid-friendly until 9 p.m. He said they tried to gear the event toward everyone.
Magician DJ Edwards will perform for children at 10:30 a.m. There will be a lot of free children’s activities such as snow cones, face painting, and a jump house. Minors won’t be allowed in the bar after 9 p.m.
Barbecue plates for lunch and dinner will be sold for $7.
Because of the heat, times for the tournaments have been changed from the original times.
A Memphis style washer tournament will start at noon. The cost to play washers is $30 per team.
A sand volleyball tournament will start at 7 p.m. The cost to play volleyball is $100 per team for co-ed four or six players with equal male to female ratio.
There will be a silent auction, 50/50 drawings, and gun and quilt raffles. T-shirts and wristbands will be for sale.

There will be a DJ outside and live bands will perform inside the bar with Capone taking the stage at 9 p.m.
