PARK HILLS — Dortha Marie (Gibbs) Rogers, daughter of the late Orda Asouth and Cecil Jane Emma Ellen (Smith) Gibbs was born on January 30, 1928 in Keener Springs area near Henderickson, Missouri and stepped through God’s other door on June 19, 2012 at her home in Park Hills, Missouri. She had attained the age of eighty-four years, four months, and 19 days.
Mrs. Rogers had resided in Park Hills area for the past 35 years. A homemaker and a lifetime of Protestant faith. She was known for her kindness and thoughtfulness towards others. She was an avid reader and had a great respect for books. She enjoyed reading and collecting books.
On August 4, 1945 she was united in marriage to James David Rogers in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2004. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Gibbs; two grandsons, John Rogers and Scott Rogers.
Survivors include, one daughter, Debra Papayik and husband, Sam, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; five sons, Paul Rogers and wife, Shirley, of Farmington, Mo., Steven Rogers of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Glenn Rogers of Doniphan, Mo., Dennis Rogers of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and David Rogers of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; four sisters, Eula Mae Woolford of Sacramento, Ca., Pauline Kaiser of Tuscon, Az., Doris McQuery of Indianapolis, In., and Martha Gibbs of Clayton, Mo.; two brothers, Jimmy Gibbs and Orda “Junior” Gibbs, both of Saint Louis, Mo.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and will be sadly missed by all.
Visitation will be at Taylor Funeral and Cremation Service, Inc., Farmington, on Friday from 10-11 a.m. with services following. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Yount Cemetery in Garwood Mo.
