Alliance celebrates volunteering

The Farmington Ministerial Alliance held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner this spring at the Farmington Presbyterian Church.

“This annual event is a way for us to thank the volunteers for all the hard work, dedication and determination they offer to the people of our community every day” said Laura Raymer, Director of Benevolence.

The Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry is located at 1101 Ste. Genevieve Ave with the Thrift Store located inside The Factory at 200 W. First St. More than 100 volunteers regularly participate in the mission of the Alliance by providing food, clothing, shelter and fuel to families and individuals in need within the Farmington community.

In 2011 the Food Pantry distributed almost 500,000 pounds of food and the Thrift Store assisted over 1,000 individuals in need of free clothing.

In order to meet the increasing demand for assistance within the community, the Ministerial Alliance is once again accepting applications for volunteers at both the Pantry and Thrift Store during open hours.

A variety of positions and schedules are available for volunteer candidates. More information may be obtained by visiting with an Alliance volunteer on-site or by emailing farmingtonministerialalliance@hotmail.com.
