Hounds forfeit tournament chances

STE. GENEVIEVE — The De Soto SMCI team advanced to the American Legion District 13 Tournament semi-final game by one player.

Scheduled to play the Farmington Hounds Friday evening, the game started under protest by De Soto due to Farmington having only 11 players available to play.

The game started and was played into the fourth inning with the Hounds leading 3-0 before the district chairman made a ruling according to the American Legion National rules which governs their post-season play which stipulates a team must have 12 players to play any post-season game.

De Soto will face Ste. Genevieve at 5 p.m. with the winner to face undefeated Festus in the championship game at 8 p.m. (If Festus should lose, a second game will be played to determine the district champion.
