Vargo wins Christmas Artwork Contest
Hunter Vargo, a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School (Farmington), is one of 24 winners across the nation for the Holy Childhood Association (HCA) Christmas Artwork Contest. Hunter graduated from eighth grade this past May. Students at St. Joseph Catholic School participated in the HCA contest as part of their art classes under the direction of art teacher Terisa Allen.
In early December, Hunter will be invited to Mass and a reception luncheon at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. She will also receive a commemorative plaque.
The Christmas Artwork Contest is open to all Catholic schools, parish schools of religion, and home school students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Winning students could see their artwork appear as Christmas e-greetings and displayed at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C, during the Advent and Christmas seasons. Advent begins on December 2 this year. Winning artwork can be viewed later this year at hcakids.org.
