Mineral Area 14’s are now 9-0 in post-season play
LAMAR, CO — The Mineral Area All-Stars moved another notch closer to the Babe Ruth 14-year-olds World Series on Monday as they overwhelmed the team from Bismarck, ND, 13-3, to advance to the winner’s bracket semi-final of the Midwest Plains Tournament.
Brandt Busenbark kept the North Dakota players in check as the pitched the complete game win, yielding only one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out three. Busenbark also had two hits in the game.
Andres Castro scored a large portion of Mineral Area’s runs, crossing the plate five times after reaching base on two hits, two walks and a Bismarck error. Logan Winder also had two hits and two walks to drive in two runs, and Drew Jaco recorded two hits and two RBI’s, reaching base three times on ball four counts as Bismarck’s pitching struggled to contain Mineral Area batters.
Noah Skaggs joined Winder and Jaco with each player hitting one double in the game.
Mineral Area, still undefeated in post-season play, will take on East Twins, Minnesota today at 11 a.m. in the winner’s bracket final with the winner playing in the championship game at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
