Soccer Cats open season with victory

The Fredericktown High School boys soccer team defeated St. Clair, 5-2, Tuesday evening in the season opener, here.  

Fredericktown jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first half. The Cats allowed two goals in the second half, but answered with two of their own to regain the three-goal margin of victory.

“The boys played very well,” Coach Brandon Hale said.

Christian Ayyagari scored twice for the Blackcats. Alex Branum, Tyler Helm, and Logan Underwood each scored once.

Coach Hale added: “Defensively freshman Stephen Burrows accounted for several goal saves, as did freshman Tanner Davis and sophomore Elijah White with eight saves in the goal.  Junior Aaron Canterberry played strong in the mid-field as well.”
