Cub-Arama one week away

September is already half over and the countdown to JP’s 11th Midwest Cub-Arama has begun. The bright banners are hanging on lampposts around the Court Square as well as down all Main Streets.

Set up day is Thursday, Sept. 27. The two full show days are Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28-29.

Hundreds of International Harvester/Farmall Cub and Cub Cadets from all over will be on display. Last year there were nearly 250 tractors from 20 states and Canada. Also, any IH item is welcome to the show this year in any running condition.

The Kiddie Tractor pull will be Sept. 29 on North Main.

Demonstrations will be going on throughout the weekend. The Parade will be Saturday. The Route and exact time will be in next week’s issue of the Democrat News. Also any group or business is welcome to join with a float or decorated tractor. Please call 561-4524 for details.

Vendors will be on hand with new and used IH parts and other merchandise from toys to clothes and more. There will also be a swap meet allowing everyone a chance to sell or trade extra IH items.

The seventh annual City-wide yard sale will also be this weekend. The City has waived the permit fee for Cub-Arama Weekend, Thursday – Saturday, all three days or just pick what days to have your sale. Call 561-4524 to get your address on the list. Cub-Arama will also use addresses of those yard sales listed in the Democrat News.

Friday, September 28 many of the tractors will drive by the Elementary School and Stockhoff Nursing Home. Owners get a little seat time while the kids and residents get an up close look at the tractors.

There will be adult tractor skill games. Concession provided by local organizations will be on-site.

The Saturday Farmer’s Market will sponsor a Quilt Show Friday and Saturday, in the Red Cedar Room at Madison County Farm Supply. For more information call Connie at 783-1543.

Keep an eye out in the DN next week for the full schedule of events and parade route. For more information about Cub-Arama, contact Jamie Hargis at 561-4524 (days).
