Jefferson County – In response to regional employment projections regarding high-demand healthcare fields, enrollment is under way for Jefferson College’s eight-week Certified Nurse Assistant training course at the community college’s Imperial site (4400 Jeffco Boulevard).
The deadline for submitting CNA application materials is Monday, October 1.
The eight-week course begins on October 22. Classroom sessions will be held from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and clinical instruction will be from 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Enrollment is limited to 15 students per class.
The Certified Nurse Assistant course is designed to teach students how to perform basic nursing care skills for residents in a long-term care facility under the supervision of charge personnel. Instructional topics include roles and responsibilities of the nurse assistant, understanding the elderly, safety, food service, personal care, restorative nursing, and special procedures. A variety of teaching methods are used such as lectures, skills demonstrations, clinical demonstrations, and supervision.
The course meets the required 75 hours of classroom training and 100 hours of supervised on-the-job training in an approved long-term care facility as mandated by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
