Blackcats dominate second half to drop 3-0 Potosi

 POTOSI — The Potosi Trojans held a one-point edge at half-time. 7-6, but both offenses opened up in the second half with the Fredericktown Blackcats taking command for a 43-22 MAFC White Conference win. The win put the Blackcats in a four-way tie for first-place in the conference standings with Ste. Genevieve, Central and Maplewood.

Jeremy Gremminger lit things up for the Blackcats in the second half, passing for two touchdowns of 18 and 36 yards and rushing for two more of 42 and 29 yards. Gremminger also scored on a two-yard run in the first quarter to aid his 122 yards on 22 carries and  a 10 of 19, 134 yards passing.

Potosi’s Dusty Wideman rushed for 118 yards on 23 carries, including one touchdown. Quarterback Aaron Vinson passed for another 89 yards He was 10-19 on passing including two touchdowns, one each to Dalton Seim and Levi Berry.

Caleb Carver led the Blackcats defensive efforts with seven tackles and three assists. Jake Korokis made six tackles and also hauled in an interception.

Fredericktown is now 4-1 and atop the district standings. They will travel to Maplewood on Friday for their next game.  Potosi falls 3-2, and will they host Central on Friday.
