Jane Loraine ‘Kaase’ Nixon

FARMINGTON — Mrs. Jane Loraine ‘Kaase’ Nixon, 91, passed away October 3, 2012, at the San Remo Nursing Home, in Richardson, Texas.  Jane was born on September 1, 1921, in Austin, Texas, and the daughter of Charles Frederick Kaase and Leona (nee Richter) Kaase.

Jane was raised with her two siblings in Austin, Texas, where she remained until 1942. During her school years she was active in sports, softball and tennis. She also played the violin in the high school orchestra and in the Austin Symphony Orchestra.

Jane graduated from nurses’ training at Seton Hospital, Austin, Texas, in 1942. After graduation, she obtained a nursing position at a hospital in Nome, Alaska, where she met and married David O. Nixon, a captain in the Army. Upon David’s discharge in 1945, David and Jane moved to Chicago and later to Des Plaines, Illinois. In addition to the birth of two children, Donald Edward and Barbara Ellen, Jane served in various organizations like Woman’s Club and church. She also worked as a nurse for a local OBGYN doctor in Des Plaines.

Mr. and Mrs. Nixon retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas, in 1975. Jane soon became involved with the local hospital volunteering her time in the ICU and being the hospital’s nurse coordinator for hospice. She was the President of the Nine Hole Ladie’s Golf Association, and worked for the Bella Vista Community Church as a secretary for 20 years.

Jane was preceded-in-death by husband, David O. Nixon, sister-in-law, Nancy Richey Plumb, and brother-in-law, Charles Berg.

Survivors include one Son, Donald (& Jean) Nixon, of Richardson, Texas.  One daughter, Barbara (& Dr. Terry) Guiley, of Farmington, Missouri. One sister, Dorothy Berg, of Longview, Texas. One brother, Roy (& Marilyn) Kaase, of Austin, Texas. Seven grandchildren: Brett (& Shannon) Guiley; Erika ‘Mrs. Zach’ Sommermeyer; Grant (& Carissa) Guiley; Laurel ‘Mrs. Nathan’ Renschler; Brian (& Courtney) Nixon; Shaun Nixon and Sara Jane Nixon. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside Service: Friday, 10:00 a.m., October 13, 2012, at Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Farmington, with Evangelist Bernie Crum officiating, under direction of Taylor Funeral and Cremation Service, Inc., Farmington.  Later, a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012, 1:00 p.m., at The Harvest Oaks Baptist Church in Allen, Texas, with Pastor Jay Gibson officiating.  Memorials to: The Bella Vista Community Church in Bella Vista, Arkansas &/or Harvest Oaks Baptist Church in Allen, Texas.  Photo Obituary; Online Guestbook and Video Tribute online at: www.taylorfuneral.com
