Middle School Cats split with Dragons, Trojans

The Fredericktown Middle School Eighth Grade Blackcats Football Team defeated Ste. Genevieve 14-12, Oct. 4 .  

The Cats led 8-6 at halftime.  They opened up the second half with an impressive drive to increase the lead to 14-6.  The Dragons scored late in the game but the Blackcats stopped their conversion and held on for the victory.

Adam Carver led FMS in rushing and Matthew Williams and Cody Smith “played outstanding on defense,” according to Coach Scott Davis.

Smith had a rushing touchdown and Matthew Williams had a receiving touchdown.

October 11, the Cats lost 28-14, at Potosi.

Carver had a three-yard touchdown run and Williams had a 21-yard scoring catch from Smith.  

“We were down 20-6 at half,” Coach Davis said. “ I’m proud of our kids second half effort. They played hard and never quit.”

The Cats finish their season, Thursday, at Central.
