Todd Alan Patterson, 26, of Bismarck, was charged this weekend with forcible rape and first-degree assault. His bond was set at $300,000.

If convicted, he could be sentenced up to 15 years for rape and up to 30 years or life in prison for assault.

According to the probable cause statement, a rape victim was taken to Parkland Health Center where it was determined her injuries were too severe for treatment there. She was flown to a St. Louis hospital for bleeding on her brain and fractures to her facial area.

A rape kit found that the woman had been sexually assaulted Friday night or Saturday morning. The victim was able to identify her attacker as “Todd.”

The victim’s aunt said that she overheard Patterson say he was going to have sex with her niece.
