Home For the Holidays December 7

The Madison County Chamber of Commerce and local businesses invite everyone to participate in the annual Home for the Holidays event, 5-8 p.m., Friday, December 7.

Downtown and surrounding businesses are urged to extend their hours of operation December 7.

There will be several activities Friday evening, including carriage rides (6:30-8), photos with Santa, carolers, and more.

Pack 27 Cubmaster Jamie Hargis asks everyone to “make plans to show your Christmas Spirit by taking part in the Azalea Park Light Display and Home for the Holidays Parade.”

Fredericktown Boy Scout Troop 27 and Cub Scout Pack 27 will once again sponsor the Home for the Holidays Downtown Parade and Park Light Display.

The parade will begin on West Main at the Rent a Center parking lot. Participants are asked to arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. The parade will start promptly at 6. It will travel down West Main towards the Courthouse then around the Courthouse and down East Main one block. It will make a right on Mine La Motte for one block and make a right on W. College up to the stop sign then make the final right onto South Main. The parade will end in front of the Knights of Columbus Hall where Santa will be available for kids to get their pictures taken, free of charge courtesy of Troop and Pack 27.

“Remember this is a night time parade–think lights,” Hargis says.

Any organization, club, business, church or family that wants to take part in the parade please call as soon as possible. If you can not take part in the parade, please come support this local Holiday event by watching the parade and taking advantage of the extended downtown hours. Madison county residents are needed for the success of Madison County events.

The Park Light Display will be in Azalea Park on North Main. Any organization, club, business, church or family interested in decorating a display area should call for an assigned location. Set up will start the weekend after Thanksgiving (November 23).

To take part in these wonderful events call Troop 27 Scoutmaster John Hargis 561-4525 or Pack 27 Cubmaster Jamie Hargis 561-4525 today.

“We would like to get as much decorated as possible before the Home for the Holidays weekend,” Hargis says. “This is a great chance to use your imagination. Displays can be as simple or elaborate as you wish, a simple tree and sign with decorating groups’ name to a grand display of lights and music.”
