Krekeler Jewelers Christmas Parade this Monday

The Krekeler Jewelers Christmas Parade, hosted by the Farmington Chamber of Commerce, will take place Monday at 6 p.m. The theme this year is “Reason For the Season.”

The parade will travel through downtown streets beginning at Columbia and A Street, then wind east on Columbia turning at Henry Street. Then the procession will travel west on Liberty Street and complete its journey at Long Memorial Hall.

Once arrived, Santa and Mrs. Claus will enter Winter Wonderland and welcome the children to the wintery display of model trains, a miniature village depicting historic Farmington and a warm inviting place to meet and discuss wish lists.

“The Christmas parade is always a special event in our community,” said Meagan Trask, office manager and member services specialist at the Farmington Chamber of Commerce. “It serves as the opening ceremony for Winter Wonderland, and you can really feel the holiday spirit in the air in downtown Farmington.”

Trask also said the Christmas parade is a fun opportunity for local businesses to gain visibility for their company by participating in the parade. “There is no fee to enter the Christmas parade, and prize money is available for the top three parade entries,” she said.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three parade entries. First place will win $250, second will win $150 and third place will win $100.

The public is invited to line the streets and watch the seasonal floats and walking units pass by, then visit Long Memorial Hall. Winter Wonderland will be open weeknights Monday through Friday from Dec. 3-21, from 6-8 p.m. For special group viewing on weekdays, contact Pam Inman at (573) 756-2215, extension 17.
